Introducing Bursa Uludağ University: A Leading Partner in the PEARL Project

We are excited to introduce Bursa Uludağ University (BUU), one of the key partners in the PEARL project. Founded in 1975 and located in Bursa, Turkey, BUU has become a hub of academic excellence with a strong emphasis on research, innovation, and societal impact. The university operates 15 Vocational and Technical (VET) Schools, which makes it an ideal partner for a project focused on ESG literacy and sustainability education.

Why Bursa Uludağ University is Relevant for PEARL

BUU’s expertise in both Risk Management and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices makes it a natural leader in the PEARL project. With a robust track record in curriculum development, training resources, and project management, the university is uniquely positioned to lead Work Package 2: Knowledge Framework and Curriculum Development. The university’s deep understanding of the needs of SMEs and VET providers and its vast experience in risk analysis further strengthen its role in shaping the project’s resources and outputs.

In addition, BUU has a history of involvement in EU-funded projects and has successfully coordinated several initiatives, including the REMODEL Horizon Europe Project, which demonstrates its capability in managing international, multi-partner projects. This experience is invaluable in ensuring the PEARL project’s success and effective dissemination of results across Europe.

BUU’s Role in PEARL

As a leading partner in the PEARL project, Bursa Uludağ University will be heavily involved in multiple work packages. Apart from leading WP2, the university will also play a critical role in WP3 (Training Resources and Toolbox Development), WP4 (ESG Risk Assessment Application), and will contribute to WP5 (Dissemination, Communication, and Knowledge Hub). BUU will use its extensive national and international networks to ensure the project’s resources reach a broad audience and generate lasting impact.

Meet the Key Staff Involved

The PEARL project will benefit from the expertise of several distinguished faculty members from BUU, including:

  • Professor Dr. Aylin Poroy Arsoy, a respected academic with vast experience in international financial reporting and corporate governance, who currently serves as the project coordinator for REMODEL (Horizon Europe).
  • Professor Dr. Nuran Bayram Arli, an expert in multivariate statistical analysis and sustainable development, who brings invaluable insights into data analysis and survey techniques.
  • Associate Professor Elif Yucel, a specialist in environmental accounting and sustainability with extensive experience in EU-funded projects.
  • Kamuran Üstün, a professional in corporate risk management, contributing her expertise in strategic planning and financial management to the project.
  • Dr. Burak Meydancı, an expert in commercial law and intellectual property, with experience in EU-funded projects and research in private law.

Together, this dynamic team will ensure that the project’s activities are aligned with the needs of the SMEs and VET providers involved, while also advancing the overarching goals of sustainability and ESG literacy.
